Specsavers Case Study

Specsavers Head of Contracts; Bhim Lal-
"As a private company we are very tough on ourselves and we go into all the risks to ensure we provide the very best support for all our staff and best care for our customers."

About:

Europe's largest retail optician
700 high street shops
16,000 + staff

The Services:

Reportline used as part of their general H&S risk management systems - provided by Connaught.

The Issues:

To gather rapid, accurate and detailed information about any health, safety or security incident on a Specsavers premises
Identify any risk trends that might have implications for other stores in the group.
Take swift action to minimise those risks.
To ensure that the company is always fully compliant with RIDDOR regulations

Resolution:

Provided management information that identified specific areas of risk.
Highlighted significant numbers of elderly people and those with conditions such as diabetes which presented certain risks which needed to be managed carefully.

Ensuring rapid and accurate reporting of all incidents including near misses on individual sites would play a significant role in lowering the level of risk across the whole group.

The outcome:

Specsavers believe that our professional risk management including Reportline would not only lower the risk of accidents or other incidents, but would reduce the scope for prosecution or litigation and ultimately result in less costly insurance premiums.
